Playing hard...

Josh has been playing hard today and riding his bike a lot. He has also been getting into "air soft" guns. I've never been a big fan of guns for kids...not even play guns. Yet, my friends who are wonderful christians, brought out a good point...he will need to know how to use a gun properly if he is ever drafting for war. So, I've allowed him to play airsoft with the neighborhood boys. Now, he want an airsoft gun. Not sure David will go for this...we'll need to do a little discussing about that.

Back at our hometown, there are places where kids and teens can go to do airsoft wars. It is a safe area that is monitored. But around here, just the neighborhood...not so sure it is a good idea.

He really wants to use some of his additional birthday money to buy an airsoft gun. : )

He is also into the old movie, "The Karate Kid". Right now as I type this, he is imitating the "stance" of the Karate Kid which made him famous. That bird looking stance. : )

We rented Karate Kid 2 from Net Flix and he was SO excited!!

So we will be watching this over the weekend. Even Jordan has gotten into these movies. :)

Gum....and just old sentimental mom comments!

Today Josh has had the hardest time keeping his bubble gum in his mouth!!! All day he has been chewing "Big League Chew gum". He is pulling it out of his mouth like silly putty and letting it dangle out of the corners of his mouth....YUK!! (as I type this, he is playing with it and dad just made him spit it out b/c he won't stop playing with his gum!) lol!

Josh had a great time swimming this morning at the hotel we stayed at last night. He would make up fun "racing/timed" games for he and Jordan. He loves to compete! (and loves even more to always be the winner!) : )

I love these qualities in him...he will persevere!

I've noticed a lot today how much he is growing up so fast (both of our children). Noticed this even more so while we were with our friends this evening, who have younger boys...my boy is so much bigger next to them!!! And I realized how quickly time passes bye. Have you ever seen that movie, "Cheaper By the Dozen"? Where the dad says he blinked and his little girl was all grown up??! That is how I am feeling about our children.

So, for all of you who have young toddlers and babies...cherish EVERY moment with them, because the time truly is fleeting!

Blessings!

Josh reached his Brain Age Goal!

Josh is excited this morning!!! There is this game called "Brain Age".  He and  his father have been competing against each other since Christmas, as to who will reach "20" first!  Apparently, "20" is the highest score to reach that would reflect a healthy/brain that is performing at tip top level...lol...well, anyway it is a game that they really enjoy.

Josh reached 20 this morning! And couldn't wait to call his dad to "kind of rub it in".  hehe

Brain Age has math facts, reading, sequencing, memory games, sudoku (a numbers game) and other different skills that stimulate the brain activity.  Each time one succeeds well in one level, another is added to your repertoire of activities.

Such as...you may be asked to draw a picture from memory, things like that.  The Brainage guru who walks you through, is very encouraging, and will explain what to focus on...like for instance if he asks you to draw the state of FL.  After you draw it, he will show what it should look like beside your drawing, then give you hints as to what to focus on...such as for FL, you would focus on the pan-handle of the state.  It is pretty neat.  The kids love it...David and I enjoy it too!

So, Josh is feeling pretty pumped...now he can get on his MATH work and apply some of those math facts to his daily math lesson. : )

One more bit of info...Josh's birthday is tomorrow!!! He will be 10 tomorrow...can't believe !!!

Getting Ready for Baseball!

Well Josh is getting geared up for baseball.  It is about that time and sign ups were this past week.  We do not know what team he is on.  The way they arrange teams is quite different than what we know.  Here where we now live, once you begin on a team, that is the team you are with FOREVER...LOL!  Anyway, it is just a lil different, but that is OK.  Change is good.

After completing his reading (finished Barry the St. Bernard) and the rest of his spelling definitions...where he does part of speech, Ant. Syn. and a sentence using that word, he was off to his buddy Austin's to play pool. Apparently I came to find out that yesterday he and some additional neighborhood boys had found a dead dog in the woods of which they were going back every now and then to see if it was still there...and EEEEEwwwwwwwww! Boys! Reminds me of the story of David at the beach when he was a little boy and he poked the eyes out of a dead fish and didn't he kiss it too??? BLAH!

This evening "the gang"...consisting of Dad, Josh and Jordan (with me doing my computer stuff right here) watched American Gladiators.  It is a weekly event in our home.  Don't ask me to give the play by play...I dunno know.  But they sure can give you the run down.  All I know is some woman named crush or something knocked the hound out of another woman and into the water she went.  : )  Josh is so hilarious though...when the show gets exciting as the gladiators are competing, he cannot contain himself...he is like jumping all around and ends up in front of the television jumping up and down RIGHT in front of the screen so as DAD cannot see what is going on...and just at the climactic part of the fight or whatever they do...dad yells, "JOSH JOSH GET OUT OF THE WAY, I can't SEE through YOU!"  LOL.  Some of you family and friends know JUST what I talkin bout here!  I'll try to get some pics of that next week...that is a weekly happening too!! I feel like I'm in the twilight zone sometimes b/c I hear similar dialog happening that I know I've heard before between those two.

By the way, have you ever seen a tape dispenser lose its stuffing??? Well...I have...Josh came into the kitchen this afternoon (with a look of...I dunno how it happened) and said the tape dispenser just came apart...anyway...the rubber was peeled off the bottom and black beady looking almost like gunpowder looking stuff all over his desk.  Pretty interesting.  Now I know what weighs down a tape dispenser!  Hmmmm, haven't you wondered this too? : )

Well, Here's what it looks like and *NOW we KNOW*...the black rubber grippers on the underneath part of a tape dispenser...dunna mess with 'em b/c they DO have a purpose...they serve as hole plugs for this stuff...scroll down a bit and see pic below...
